UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) publishes human rights and climate reporting guidelines.

14 June 2023

On 14 June 2023, the UN opened a new reporting window for signatories on the PRI – set to close on 6 September 2023. The PRI has also published accompanying 2023 Reporting Framework guides.

The new guidelines set out by the PRI highlight how human rights indicators in the 2023 reporting period correlate to the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs).

Furthermore, the PRI has:-

  • pushed for human rights indicators to be included in Asset Owners’ Requests for Proposals (RFPs) – publishing due diligence guidance to help investors identify/prioritise human rights risks;
  • produced guidance on net zero reporting – releasing general advice for investors that aligns with the Financial Stability Board’s Task Force on Climate-related Disclosures indicators;
  • and resources tailored to signatories reporting against the requirements of initiatives such as the UN-convened Net Zero Asset Owners Alliance (NZAOA) and Net Zero Asset Managers (NZAM).
