European Commission announces delay to the application date for RTS under the SFDR

On 8 July 2021, in a letter to the European Economic and Financial Affairs Council, the European Commission confirmed that the application of the regulatory technical standards (RTS) under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation ((EU) 2019/2088) is to be delayed by six months from the original application date of 1 January 2022 to 1 July 2022.

The delay to the application date is intended to facilitate the smooth implementation of the RTS by product manufacturers, financial advisors, and supervisors.
