Join the LMA

This process is for organisations who wish to join the LMA. The LMA has sole discretion in accepting or rejecting applicants for membership.

Membership is offered at the institutional level only and is subject to completion of the online application, acceptance of that organisation by the LMA and payment of the relevant fee. Membership will commence only once the subscription fee is received by the LMA.

Information on subscription fees and criteria for membership

Please note, 2024 membership runs from 1 January to 31 December, 2024. The full year's subscription fee must be paid whenever an institution joins, regardless of the month.

Subscription renewals for 2024 membership are due from 1 January, 2024.

Organisations must appoint a Nominated Representative who will act as the principal contact for communication with the LMA. The Nominated Representative will be expected to circulate within their organisation relevant information passed on by the LMA. Full members can also appoint an Alternate Representative who can assist in this capacity.

By submitting this application to become a member of the Loan Market Association (the "LMA"), the applicant agrees and consents for the purpose of their membership of the LMA (if accepted) to be subject to and to abide by the memorandum and articles of association and bye-laws of the LMA (as amended from time to time by the LMA, in accordance with the articles of association), copies of which are available here. The applicant also agrees and consents to be subject to and abide by any disclaimers or any other terms and conditions displayed on, or any content accessed via, the LMA website. In particular, the applicant has read and acknowledged the byelaws relating to their use of LMA materials (see clause 10.1.2 of the byelaws) and understands that if the applicant uses any LMA materials in breach of the memorandum, articles of association, byelaws or any terms and conditions or disclaimers displayed on, or any content accessed via, the LMA website, the applicant will be deemed to have given notice to withdraw its membership with immediate effect. The applicant agrees and consents for the purpose of the Companies Act 2006 and any other applicable legislation to receiving membership information by way of electronic communication to the above noted email address, to receiving membership information published by the LMA via the LMA website (or such other website address as shall be communicated to the applicant by the LMA) and to receiving electronic notification of any such publications, again to the above noted email address. The applicant understands that the applicant will need a browser run by Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or Safari to view information on the LMA website. The applicant should contact the LMA at lma@lma.eu.com if the applicant has any questions in relation to their rights and obligations as a member of the LMA.

Annual Membership Rates

Full member: £13,500 pa + VAT, Associate member with UK office - law firm: £9,600 pa + VAT, Associate member with UK office - other: £8,700 pa + VAT, Associate member without UK office: £6,500 pa, Associate African Single Jurisdiction - £2,000, Academic: £5,000 pa + VAT

Membership only commences after receipt of payment and acceptance of membership by the LMA. Should membership be rejected, the net proceeds of your payment will be returned to you.

Applicants are advised that the Loan Market Association is a company limited by guarantee in England and Wales and that, pursuant to clause 7 of its memorandum of association, every member undertakes that in the event of the winding up of the Loan Market Association while he is a member, or within one year of cessation of his membership, he will be liable to contribute to the assets of the Loan Market Association an amount not exceeding £1.
