EPA publishes guidance note to assist with the consistent application of the Equator Principles

22 July 2022

On the 22 July, the Equator Principles Association (EPA) has published a guidance note with associated templates to support the effective and consistent application of the Equator Principles.

The note provides guidance for the selection, terms of engagement and scope of work of an Independent Environmental and Social Consultant (IESC) undertaking Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD). It is a requirement under Equator Principles 7 and 9 for an IESC to be appointed for project finance and project-related corporate loans. Further, the note provides advice on the development and/or review of an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) by the borrower for the identification and assessment of environmental and social risks. This is a requirement under Equator Principle 2.

The new guidance and templates are intended to be read in conjunction with other guidance and resources available on the EPA website.
