​World Economic Forum publishes white paper on scaling investments in nature

On 14 February 2022, the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Nature-Based Solutions published a new white paper, 'Scaling Investments in Nature: The Next Critical Frontier for Private Sector Leadership' (the White Paper) which takes a practical look at the investment landscape for nature and nature-based solutions.

The White Paper maps out two complementary pathways for private-sector stakeholders to: (i) mainstream investments in nature that already demonstrate a positive business case (realise current opportunities), and (ii) call on governments to create a fit-for-purpose enabling environment where financial returns are not yet in place (create new opportunities).

The White Paper urges corporates, investors and governments to create and strengthen market-based mechanisms for valuing nature, and emphasises the importance of businesses acting with urgency to deliver better outcomes for nature and society.
