UK's Financial Conduct Authority confirms final rules and guidance to promote better climate-related financial disclosures by standard listed companies

01 January 2022

On 17 December 2021, the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (the FCA) published a policy statement which provided confirmation of the final rules and guidance established to promote improved climate-related disclosures for issuers of standard shares or equity shares represented by certificates.

The FCA's policy statement (PS21/23) confirms that issuers of standard listed shares or equity shares represented by certificates must include a statement in their annual financial reports which sets out whether their disclosures meet the recommendations of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, and if they do not, provide valid reasoning as to why.

The rules came into effect on 1 January 2022.
