Russian Federation adopts green taxonomy

On 10 November 2021, the Russian Federation officially adopted the Russian Green Taxonomy (the RGT) which was developed with the aim of compatibility with international best practice.

The RGT covers a broad spectrum of areas including: waste management, energy, construction, industry, transport water supply, biodiversity and agriculture.

The RGT also includes 'adaptation criteria' which provide Russian institutions with the ability to develop transition criteria to indicate to investors that they are making an effort to adapt to climate risk.
