Chancery Lane Project publishes net-zero toolkit

06 October 2021

On 30 September 2021, The Chancery Lane Project (TCLP) published its net zero toolkit which aims to enable lawyers to use climate and net-zero aligned clauses within their contracts, aligning the work they do with a decarbonised economy.

The net zero toolkit includes 100 climate clauses, of which 20 are newly established and 24 are 'best-in-class' high ambition clauses aligned with the Paris Agreement goal of limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels by 2050.

There are seven sections of the toolkit which add to its functionality, including:

  • a clause timeline;
  • a net zero transition map;
  • a net zero drafting checklist;
  • a glossary and net zero definitions;
  • a list of case studies;
  • the best in class net zero clauses; and
  • net zero implementation tools.
