​HMT appoints independent expert group advising on standards for green investment

HM Treasury (HMT) has appointed the Green Technical Advisory Group (GTAG) to oversee the governments delivery of a green taxonomy – a framework setting standards for investments to be deemed environmentally sustainable. The GTAG is to provide independent, non-binding advice to the Government on developing and implementing a Green Taxonomy in the UK context, and is expected to run for two years.

GTAG will be chaired by the Green Finance Institute and will be made up of financial and business stakeholders, taxonomy and data experts, and subject matter experts drawn from academia, NGOs, the Environment Agency and the Committee on Climate Change.
