UK joins the International Platform on Sustainable Finance

03 February 2021

HM Treasury has announced that the UK has joined the International Platform on Sustainable Finance (IPSF), and has published the Joint Statement on the IPSF signed by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak. The UK’s membership of IPSF is said to support the comprehensive approach to greening financial systems, and mobilising finance for clean and resilient growth and the aims of COP26.

The IPSF was launched in 2019 with the ultimate objective of scaling up the mobilisation of private capital towards environmentally sustainable investments. The 16 members of the IPSF represent 55% of greenhouse gas emissions, 50% of the world population and 55% of global GDP.
