LMA responds to European Commission call for evidence on the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR)
30 May 2025On 30 May 2025, we responded to the European Commission’s Call for Evidence on review of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR).
In our response, we highlighted some key points for the Commission to consider when making amendments to the SFDR framework, including: (i) alignment (to the extent possible) in reporting requirements across the SFDR, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the Taxonomy Regulation and other international regimes; (ii) challenges with data availability; and (iii) the potential need for a bespoke transition product category under the SFDR. We also highlighted that a successful review of the framework should: (i) ensure close industry collaboration; (ii) focus on ‘decision-useful’ information; and (iii) take a holistic approach to avoid unintended costs.
The European Commission is expected to publish its proposal revising the SFDR in Q4 2025.
