LMA announces launch of new e-learning series providing an introduction to ESG issues and sustainable finance products

22 October 2021

The LMA is pleased to announce the launch of the first in a series of three new e-learning modules, which will form part of its wider e-learning programme aimed at developing knowledge for practitioners in the syndicated loan market. With the ever-increasing focus on ESG issues in the market, these three new e-learning modules aim to provide an overview of key ESG themes as well as to introduce some of the innovative sustainable finance products that have emerged in recent years.

The first module to be released, 'It's Good to be Green', is intended to provide an introduction to the green agenda and the role of green finance. Amongst other things, the module explains some of the key initiatives which have helped to shape the green agenda and provides an overview of the Green Loan Principles which were developed by the LMA together with the APLMA and the LSTA. The second and third e-learning modules in this series will follow later in 2021.

Speaking about the new green finance e-learning module, Hannah Vanstone, Legal Associate at the LMA, said: "We think that it is really important for everyone in the syndicated loan market to understand the importance of ESG issues and how these are being incorporated into mainstream finance. As we are faced with the impacts of the global climate emergency, we hope that the first module in our new e-learning series will help practitioners to better understand, and develop their interest in, the green agenda and the green finance products that have emerged in the market so far."
