European Commission announces upcoming mandatory human rights and environmental supply chain due diligence requirements

The European Commission (the "Commission") has announced in a recent webinar that it intends to introduce proposals for EU legislation relating to mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence requirements for companies. The proposed legislation will form part of the Commission's 2021 Work Plan and its European Green Deal strategy.

The Commission intends to release a consultation on its proposals in the next few weeks, with legislation expected in Q1 2021.
