European Commission publishes draft sustainability regulations

The European Commission has published the draft text of three Commission Delegated Regulations which are aimed at promoting and encouraging sustainable finance practices. The delegated regulations relate to:

  • the introduction of minimum standards to help benchmark administrators design the ‘EU climate transition’ and ‘EU Paris-aligned’ benchmarks (the "First Initiative");
  • a requirement for companies that publish financial benchmarks to explain clearly how environmental, social and governance criteria are reflected for each benchmark or family of benchmarks (the "Second Initiative"); and
  • a requirement for companies that publish financial benchmarks to provide information on how they build environmental, social and governance factors into their calculations (the "Third Initiative").

    • The feedback period opened on 8 April 2020 and closes on 6 May 2020.
