British Standards Institution publish framework for embedding the principles of sustainable finance in financial services organisations

20 January 2020

The British Standards Institution ("BSI") has published Publicly Available Specification ("PAS") 7340 entitled, 'Framework for embedding the principles of sustainable finance in financial services organizations - Guide'. This was developed in collaboration with the financial services industry and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

PAS 7340 is the first in an anticipated series of three PASs on sustainable finance. It is intended to give financial services organisations a framework and principles that will help them understand and apply sustainable finance practices, and is intended to be internationally applicable.

BSI also launched a public consultation on the second PAS in this series, PAS 7341, 'Responsible and sustainable investment management – Specification', which closed on 28 February 2020. Once finalised, PAS 7341 will set out requirements to establish, implement and manage the process of integrating responsible and sustainability considerations into investment management, at the legal entity level.
